Many people, including my colleagues and friends, think I am an ideal CEO since I have been handling everything for more than a decade and winning hundreds of international clients on this journey. They often ask, how did you become a great CEO as you are handling lots of people while working hard every single day without any break?
You know what? I didn’t become a better CEO by working more… I became better by starting my day smarter.
Most of these people believed that CEOs run on 5 am mornings and chaos… but can you believe my biggest breakthrough came from just 15 minutes?
I was also one of those people who chase complex routines just to stay fit and manage everything smoothly. However, I changed my habits. I found a simple 15-minute system that shifted everything and made me a better CEO.
Yes, no long hours of grind, no 5 am workouts, just 15 minutes that made me think clearly, lead better, and enabled me to make sharper and wiser decisions even on the messiest days.
And do you know what the best part is? Anyone can do it.
Whether you are a student, freelancer, entrepreneur, or working professional, this routine works across the board. So, let me walk you through this 15-minute routine that actually made me a better CEO.
Why 15-Minute Routine?
Now you must be wondering why I am following a 15-minute routine. How can only 15 minutes change everything?
I believe that most routines fail because they are too long to follow consistently.
We know lots of people around us who make a 1-hour schedule, but unfortunately, they can’t stick to it for more than 3 days. So, I wanted something easy, repeatable, flexible, stress-free, and high-impact. And I think 15 minutes is the sweet spot.
It works unbelievably. I mean, there are no excuses to follow it every day because you always have 15 minutes at least. You feel no pressure to do it, even on bad days. And there is no burnout because the routine energizes you instead of draining you.
15 Minutes Broken Down Minute by Minute
So, here is the exact format I use, which is short, simple, and powerful.
- 3 minutes → Mind Reset
- 5 minutes → Planning
- 4 minutes → Leadership Check
- 3 minutes → Personal Re-centering
Now let’s break each one down.
-
First 3 Minutes – Mind Reset!
In the first 3 minutes, I do:
- Slow breathing
- No phone
- No talking
- No rushing
- No checking notifications
It really works because it clears all the mental clutter, sharpens my focus, calms my nerves, lowers stress, and resets my energy instantly.
In fact, on some days, I switch it with 3 minutes of gratitude, a short mindfulness session, quick stretching, and simply looking outside the window and breathing.
-
Next 5 Minutes – Planning
That’s where things get powerful. I remember I used to spend my day drowning in unlimited tasks. But now, I just start with one simple question: What really matters today?
Not 20 tasks, not 10 tasks, and not even 5 tasks. Just 3 key priorities.
In these 5 minutes, I do:
- Write down my top 3 outcomes
- Identify the 1 task that moves the business forward
- Eliminate anything unnecessary
- Align my team’s focus with mine
- Set a clear expectation for the day
Do you know the real magic? You stop reacting and start leading.
-
Next 4 Minutes – Leadership Check
I think as a CEO, you can’t lead people efficiently if you are not spending time checking in with yourself.
These 4 minutes changed how I lead my company. So I ask myself these questions:
- How do I want to show up today? Calm, energetic, or confident?
- Is there a conversation I have been avoiding? If yes, I will schedule it
- What does my team need from me today? Direction, clarity, or encouragement?
These questions help me:
- Avoid emotional reactions
- Communicate better
- Lead with intentionality
- Stay supportive instead of controlling
- Stay proactive instead of passive
Last 3 Minutes – Personal Re-centering
These last 3 minutes create emotional balance. Being a CEO is not only about creating strategies and generating revenue. It’s also about emotional energy, confidence, and presence of mind.
So, what do I do in these 3 minutes?
- Quick affirmations
- A motivating thought
- A reminder of my long-term vision
- A short “future self” visualization
- A moment of gratitude
I usually tell myself “you make great decisions”, “your team trusts you”, and “you know how to handle challenges.”
These are small statements but have big impacts.
What Happened After 90 Days?
After following this 15-minute routine consistently, I noticed some major changes.
-
My decision-making improved
I am more clear, confident, and faster.
-
Team communication became smoother
I was showing up with clarity, not chaos.
-
Stress levels dropped massively
Even during high-pressure months.
-
I stopped procrastinating
Because I knew the one thing that mattered each day.
-
I became more present
With my team, with myself, with my goals.
-
My leadership style matured
Less reactive. More intentional. More strategic.
What’s the Beauty of This Routine?
You can easily personalize it – whenever you want!
Yes, this is my version. But you can tweak it according to your preferences.
-
If you love journaling
Use the first 3 minutes for gratitude writing.
-
If you prefer exercise
Do quick stretches instead of mindfulness.
-
If you need motivation
End with a 3-minute success visualization.
-
If you’re spiritual
Add a short prayer or reflection.
-
If you’re a strategist
Spend extra time on planning and reduce elsewhere.
Our goal is not to be perfect but just to be consistent so we can achieve bigger milestones. So make sure you build a version that matches your personality.
How Can You Start Today?
If you want to start, do it today. You don’t need any tools, apps, or software. Just motivation!
Here’s how to start it today:
- Set a 15-minute timer
- Follow the 4 sections
- Write down 3 priorities
- Do the leadership check
- End with a centering moment
That’s it.
Try it from tomorrow morning and see the difference!
